MENTOR Survey is now LIVE - and we want your opinion!
The project MENTOR – More than a joke: Humour in times of dictatorship explores how humour, through jokes, satire, and cartoons, has been used as a powerful tool of resistance in authoritarian and totalitarian regimes, and why this remains relevant today.
MENTOR is a two-year initiative which invites critical reflection on freedom of expression and the role of humour in democratic societies. The project will include events, exhibitions, and workshops in the participating countries Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Spain.
One of the first key milestones is a European-wide online survey that gathers insights on personal or family experiences with authoritarian regimes, perceptions of free speech, and the role of humour in democratic life. We therefore warmly invite you to take part in this survey which explores how we perceive freedom of speech and humour in public discourse, and its role in democratic engagement today.
