EQADE - Training on Salzburg Principles held in Mostar
Mostar. A Seminar on Salzburg principles, as the widely accepted guiding principles to quality in PhD education, was held in Mostar on May 24 and 25, 2012. At the seminar, lecturers from EU partner institutions presented to BiH representatives (UDE staff) how their universities work to incorporate Salzburg principles and how they organize and manage PhD education and research.
Additionally, a session on Road-maps was held for BiH representatives during the seminar. Furthermore, the seminar was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of Srpska, the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance BiH, as well as representatives of Springer Verlag and Elea d.o.o..The seminar also served as a valuable opportunity to discuss project implementation, performed, ongoing and future project activities, as well as partner responsibilities.
At the first day of the Seminar, the participants had the opportunity to hear about PhD education and research at the EU partner institutions, namely, at the University of Heidelberg, the University of Palermo and the University Dunarea de Jos of Galati in Romania.

What can be considered as one of the highlights of the seminar was the introduction of the Springerlink platform - the world’s most complete online collection of STM books, journals and reference works, which was given by Mr. Cem Üzüm from Springer Verlag.
Furthermore, Mr.Mujkić gave a general overview on the current situation regarding PhD education at the 8 public universities in BiH. The first day ended with the presentations on the Analysis according to the Salzburg Principles, delivered by Prof. Sonntag and on the Salzburg Recommendations and Dublin Descriptors, delivered by Mr. Mujkić
The second day of the seminar started off with a presentation on the Standards for PhD education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in Europe, delivered by prof. Dejan Bokonjić (University of East Sarajevo), and followed by a short Project overview, given by Prof. Sonntag.
The last topic of the day was the overview of implemented and current activities at the 8 public universities in BiH. The university representatives focused on the current issues and challenges they are facing at their institutions, as well as on what has been done since the beginning of the project implementation.
