Support to Higher Education Reforms in Kosovo: Training Visit successfully held

Graz and Vienna. Members of the Academic Development Unit from the University of Prishtina and of WUS Office Prishtina successfully attended a training visit in Graz and Vienna during the last week of July 2009.
In the frame of the project “Support to Reforms of Higher Education in Kosovo - Building Quality, Knowledge & Skills for Social and Economic Development” financed by the Austrian Development Agency, a three day training visit was held for members of the Academic Development Unit and WUS Office Prishtina. The task of the mentioned unit, composed amongst others of a Curriculum and Study Program Officer, a Research and Development Officer as well as a Quality Assurance Officer, is to join forces and actively support the reforms of the University of Prishtina in the fields of curriculum and study programs, research and quality assurance.
The three participants from Kosovo that attended the training visit were presented with topics in various areas, ranging from quality assurance, curriculum development with a focus on the requirements of the market to information about ECTS and student mobility. On the bases of best practice examples from Austria the participants were able to obtain new knowledge and gain new insights for their daily work. Alongside with the organized workshops the participants followed an onsite visit of the various work and research facilities, such as the impressive Avionics and ATC Technology Laboratory of the University of Applied Sciences Joanneum in Graz.
Although the training visit was rather intense in terms of content, the participants were highly satisfied with the overall outcome, as the following feedback from an evaluation questionnaire shows very clearly:

  • “The training covered exactly the topics of interest to us. The hospitality of the WUS Austria headquarter staff was very good.”
  • “The topics presented were very interesting. The trainers were well prepared, experienced and serious. Everything went in accordance to the foreseen agenda and according to plan.”
  • “I would like to thank WUS Austria for the organization of this very nice training.”
