Delegation from University Novi Pazar Visited University of Graz and FH Joanneum and Agreed on Cooperation
Graz/ Novi Pazar. A high-ranking delegation from the newly founded public university in Novi Pazar, Serbia, consisting of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Dolicanin, and two other members of the rectorate, Prof. Dr. Bozidar Stanic and Prof. Dr. Miladin Kostic, visited Graz from May 18th to 20th in the frame of the project “Support to the University of Novi Pazar”, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Goran Ostojic, Regional Manager of WUS Austria for Serbia.
The members of the Rectorate visited the University of Graz and the University of Applied Sciences (FH Joanneum) in order to initiate inter-university cooperation and get an insight into the Quality Assurance mechanisms of these institutions.
In a meeting with the Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of Graz, Prof. Roberta Maierhofer, a general agreement on cooperation between the two universities was made. As a start of cooperation, the University of Graz offered four one-semester scholarships for students or young assistants from the University of Novi Pazar. Further cooperation possibilities were discussed, such as cooperation in the field of German language learning and teaching and advancement of Roma students and disabled students.
On the second day of the program, Ing. Mag. Thomas Trummer from the Office for Quality Management at the University of Graz held presented the Quality Management System of the University of Graz to the guests from Novi Pazar. In this session, a lot of questions could be answered and a lot of important inputs for the setup of a quality management system at the University Novi Pazar could be gained.
In the University of Applied Sciences (FH Joanneum), the delegation received a “Tour through FH Joanneum Campus” were they visited impressive departments such as Industrial Design, the Aerospace Lab and the Automotive Testing Lab. After the Tour, the Department of International Management at the FH Joanneum presented FH’s International R&D Activities in the Area of Quality in Higher Education.
In the following meeting with the Rector and Managing Director of FH Joanneum, DI Dr. Michael Klees, the delegation got the opportunity to ask questions about the management and administration system of the FH Joanneum.
The study visit was very successful and provided the delegation with a huge amount of information and tools to be used for the development of a quality management system at the University of Novi Pazar.
With funds of the ADC, WUS Austria is supporting the establishment of a quality assurance office and an eLearning Lab in the frame of the program “Serbia 2007-2010: Improving Quality, Knowledge and Skills for Economic Development. Support to Reforms of Higher Education in Serbia”
