Regional CSO Workshop with EU4Green Project to Drive Green Transition in the Western Balkans
We are delighted to share that WUS Austria is actively supporting the EU4Green project, a vital initiative aimed at advancing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, implemented by the Environment Agency Austria (Umweltbundesamt). This project, which encompasses Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, seeks to green their economies through inclusive consultation with all relevant partners while enhancing monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
With our educational expertise, WUS Austria is proud to contribute to the EU4Green project's efforts. On April 26, a regional workshop titled "Green Transition – Regional Capacity Building Needs of Civil Society Organisations" was organized to gather inputs and leverage the expertise of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
The workshop agenda covered various aspects, including existing short trainings relevant to green transition, discussions on key issues in each economy, and preparations for the life-long learning portfolio on Green Transition within EU4Green. Participants provided valuable insights on training providers, main user groups, and obstacles faced in the transition process.
CSOs were empowered to express their needs and share specific experiences related to Green Transition in the Western Balkans, shaping a common understanding of this crucial initiative. Identification and mapping of ongoing training and education efforts enabled the development of a basic educational module on Green Transition and the definition of important target groups.
The collaborative approach fostered by the workshop facilitated exchange, learning, and mutual assistance among participating CSOs. It also shed light on common challenges faced by economies in the region, including the need for better strategic approaches, strengthened rule of law, and improved institutional capacity.
These invaluable inputs will inform the development of life-long learning modules and portfolios within EU4Green. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future in the Western Balkans!
