Hybrid Event „Improving life skills of young mothers in the slums of Nairobi"
The Slum Child Foundation in cooperation with WUS Austria kindly invites you to a workshop on “Improving life skills of young mothers in the slums of Nairobi“.The event will take place on 7th December 2022 from 10:00 AM EAT (for participants in
Nairobi)/8:00 AM CET (for participants in Austria) until 11:30 EAT/13:30 AM CET and will
be organised as a hybrid event. Participants in Nairobi are invited to join the event at Best
Western Plus Meridian Hotel, 6 Murang'a Road, off Moi Avenue, Nairobi.
During the event, results from the study: “Young mothers in the slums of Nairobi” will be
presented and a “Social Workers Referral Pathway Manual for young Mothers“ will be
launched. The manual aims at providing guidance to social workers and other professionals
working with teenage mothers in poor urban settlements. Panel discussions during the event
will further explore opportunities of education as pathway for teenage mothers and possible
policy recommendations to address teenage motherhood. More detailed information can be

The event is organised in the framework of the project “Improving life skills of young
mothers in the slums of Nairobi”, funded by Fair Styria and implemented by the Slum Child
Foundation in partnership with World University Service Austria (WUS Austria). Main activities
include an analysis of the situation in Korogocho; trainings of social workers in Nairobi and
teaching life skills to young mothers from the slums.
