InterCap project - Internship report
Within the scope of the SDG-Forum at the University of Vienna on November 26, 2019, I had the possibility to work as an intern at WUS Austria. It was my task to prepare and carry out an activity (practice-oriented project), which was part of the InterCap project, for the SDG Forum in Vienna. The practice-oriented project was a survey among the conference participants in order to raise the awareness for the 17 SDGs and their implementation.
I spent a few days in the WUS Austria office in Graz. After it became clear, that I would create a questionnaire, we thought about what I could ask and how I should phrase it. I also got valuable support from an SDG ambassador.
In the survey, we asked participants to rate which SDG was the most urgent to be implemented and how the implementation of the SDGs in Austria was progressing. Together with Anna Binder, who is also active in Fridays for Future, we managed to talk to forty people during the breaks of the conference. Most people were very interested in taking part and asked why we were conducting the survey. What I particularly noticed was that many were rather pessimistic about the implementation of the SDGs in Austria.
Finally, as a future primary school teacher and politically interested and engaged person in general, this project meant a lot to me. I am very happy that I could further my knowledge in this topic. I am convinced that I will be able to use what I have learned, and I hope that I can share my newly gained knowledge.
