PATTERNS Lectures 2016/2017: kicking off the new courses!
Vienna. the Kick-off Meeting for the PATTERNS Lectures courses of 2016/2017 has taken place from 23-25 May in Vienna.
PATTERNS Lectures is a programme to develop university courses in the fields of artistic research, art history, cultural theory and cultural studies. PATTERNS Lectures was initiated by ERSTE Foundation and is being implemented by World University Service (WUS) Austria.
The fourth edition of the programme focuses on new artistic and activist practices, new social movements and their significance for the recent cultural history in Central and South Eastern Europe (CEE). The programme aims to research, analyse and understand different aspects of cultural practices related to the transformation of society, life, art and culture in CEE, while accounting for the pluralities that characterise the region.
The programme stresses critical methodology as well as innovative and interactive teaching practices. It encourages international academic exchange by enabling lecturers to go on study visits and offer guest lectures by international colleagues.
Out of 49 applications from 11 countries the PATTERNS Lectures Advisors selected 12 courses that will be taught in 8 different countries throughout the academic year 2014/2015, including courses coming Austria (1), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1), Croatia (1),Hungary (1), Poland (3), Romania (2), Serbia (1), Slovakia (1).
