ALLED – Aligning Education with Labour Market Needs: opening event in Prishtina
Prishtina. The opening event of the project ALLED “Aligning Education with Labour Market Needs in Kosovo” was held on Friday, July 3rd in Pristina, Kosovo. Around 90 representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosova (MEST), the project donor - the European Union Office in Kosovo (EUOK), co-funding and implementing agency (Austrian Development Agency), the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW), higher education institutions, education agencies, municipal education authorities, the private sector, vocational education and training schools, development partners and experts attended the opening event.
As stated by the stakeholders, ALLED is a project which came at the right time, as it seems that its main beneficiaries and partners – also driven by the question to which education programme to enroll their own children – are ready to cooperate and contribute.
The ALLED opening event started by a working breakfast enabling the numerous participants to exchange experiences before the start of the event.
After opening remarks of Mr. Zenun Halili, Senior advisor to the MEST Minister, Mr. Christof Stock, Head of Cooperation of the European Union Office Kosovo and Mr. Christian Geosits, Head of Office of the Austrian Development Cooperation of Kosovo inputs were given by the ALLED Team.
The most dynamic part of the opening event was a vivid panel discussion, moderated by key expert for component 1 of the project Ms. Veronika Nitsche, among representatives of the National Qualification Agency, Kosovo Accreditation Agency, the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education and representatives of two successful Kosovan companies Frutomania and Plus. The discussion was very honest and open with positive and negative examples of the cooperation of education with the private sector.
