Veritas – Training on Formulation of Award Criteria & Quality Standards in Doctoral Education
Yerevan. Higher Education Professionals from Armenian and Europe met in Yerevan/Armenia from January 26-27, 2015 to discuss award criteria and quality standards and procedures in doctoral education. Based on draft university Road-maps and Salzburg principles, Armenian partners discussed award criteria applied in Armenia (e.g. quality and competencies of mentors, internationalization, mobility, research, interdisciplinary, study program content etc.) with the aim of identifying shared core criteria suitable for the 11 pilot projects, to be developed later on in the project. Likewise, European partners from the UK, Spain, Germany, Austria and Sweden offered examples and good practices on award criteria and quality standards from Europe. Delegates draw on their current experience or their University’s current approaches to help build a collective sense of what works and what doesn’t in the Armenian and EU contexts. Particular emphasis was also put on the role of supervisors in quality assurance for doctoral education.
VERITAS is a three-year national project coordinated by Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi. It aims at defining criteria, quality standards and procedures for designing, organizing and providing doctoral education.
