KIKT: Study visit at Edinburgh Napier University, UK
Edinburgh. The third study visit in the Tempus project “KIKT – Kosovo Interdisciplinary Knowledge Triangle Center” took place at the Edinburgh Napier University from June 01-05, 2011. The visiting high-level delegation from the University of Prishtina (UP) consisted of the Rector of the University of Prishtina, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, professors of the participating faculties at the University of Prishtina as well as the IKTC Center manager. The study visit consisted of presentations by the School of Life, Sport and Social Sciences and of visits to the school’s research labs and new campus. Moreover, Professor Dr. Muje Rugova, Rector of the UP, and Professor Dame Joan K Stringer, Principal of Edinburgh Napier University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to elaborate on potential future joint projects.
The project KIKT started in January 2010 and aims to improve the conditions for the development of professional research capacities at the Faculties of Medicine, Mathematical and Natural Sciences and Agriculture as well as to implement an interdisciplinary PhD study program. In the upcoming phase of the project, major efforts will be made regarding the PhD program and the pilot projects.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Mark Darlison, Head of the School of Life, Sport and Social Sciences, for hosting this study visit and for his invaluable help in bringing together all relevant stakeholders from Edinburgh Napier University. Mark Darlison and his colleagues made this study visit a very fruitful stay and provided the delegation from Kosovo with new ideas and perspectives.
