Official Opening of the University of Prizren
Prizren. A ceremony held in Prizren on November 30th marked the official opening of University of Prizren. Present at the Ceremony were the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Kosova, Prof. Dr. Enver Hoxhaj, the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Prof. Dr. Mujë Rugova, the Mayor of Prizren, Ramadan Muja, KFOR Commander, Erhard Bühler and other personalities from political, culture and religious life and also representatives of communities that live in Kosova as well as professors and students.
Kosovo Minister of Education, Enver Hoxhaj, mentioned the importance of the University of Prizren for that part of Kosovo, "We think that Kosovo should be a policentrite Kosovo, and must have a balanced economic development. Investments should not only happen in our capital Pristina, but also happen in Peja even in Prizren, Gjilan and Mitrovica”, Minister Hoxhaj said.
The Rector of the University of Prizren , Roland Münch, awarded the title “Dr. Honoris Causa”, as the highest academic degree that can be assigned to a personality for the contribution to the KFOR Commander Erhard Bühler for the contribution that NATO gave in Kosova during the last decade. "University is honoring Major General Bühler on behalf of his engagement in Kosovo as KFOR Commander, who is in this position since September 2010. He has shown readiness together with soldiers of the German KFOR and others to reduce hostilities on 12 June 2009 and the return of more than 1 million refugees who had left the country whereas HFOR has helped Kosovo during all these years", said Rector Münch while reading the motivation of the awarded title.
The University of Prizren is the second Public University in Kosova, which has around 3,000 students.
