Third seminar on teaching skills was held at the University of Montenegro within Quality Assurance Project
Podgorica Sabine Pawischitz from the University of Vienna held a seminar on teaching skills, related to the methods and types of teaching performance, mentorship and evaluation, on 12 and 13 May 2010 at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.
Ms Pawischitz focused the first day of the seminar on anxiety and conflicts in teaching. It has been discussed that both teachers and students feel anxiety and that it can be overcome in various ways. There was also discussion about the conflicts in teaching process, types of conflicts and how they can be resolved. The first day of the seminar also focused on video analysis, which has become a field of research insocial studies over the last 30 years and which can be used as a successful tool for improving teaching. It enriches the style of teaching and provides possibility for an objective assessment of one’s teaching.
During the second day of the workshop EU expert and representative of faculties of the University of Montenegro discussed the topic of seminar papers, Masters and PhD thesis writing and mentorship and possible problems such as: copywriting and plagiarism. Ms Pawischitz pointed out certain standards that are adopted in Austria and EU regarding scientific papers writing. After the discussion Ms. Pawischitz gave an idea that a catalogue of criteria for writing scientific papers could be made at the University of Montenegro.
New forms and procedures governing evaluation of teaching by students and professors of the University of Montenegro were presented by ProfessorMitar Misovic, Director of the Quality Assurance Centre. This was coupled with EU examples of internal evaluation procedures provided by Ms Pawischitz. Finally, the discussion produced some new ideas which may be included during the finalisation of the evaluation documents.
