TEMPUS Info Day at the University of Montenegro
Podgorica. TEMPUS Info Day, where a new competition for Tempus Projects, as well as national and regional priorities were presented, was held in the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro. The results of the last competition were presented as well.
The participants of TEMPUS Information Day were addressed by the Minister of Education and Science in Montenegro, Professor Dr. Sreten Škuletić, Rector of the University of Montenegro Prof. Dr. Predrag Miranović, as well as The Head of the European Commission Delegation to Montenegro Mr Leopold Maurer. TEMPUS Info Day was an opportunity for all potential applicants to discuss specific project ideas.
TEMPUS represents the most significant program of the European Commission, aimed at supporting reforms in Higher Education in Montenegro in the frame of the Instrument for Pre-IPA support. 24 projects in total, with a budget of over 3 million EUR have been realized up to now (15 joint European projects, and 9 structural projects). These projects referred to the modernization of Study Programs at different faculties (Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Medical Faculty, etc.), the introduction of the European system of transfer points ECTS, systematic reforms that contributed to the development of Higher Education in Montenegro, as well as the recognition system and the National Qualifications Framework.
The first stage of the implementation of seven new projects, related to the establishment of a stronger cooperation between economy and university, study program reform in accordance with the needs of the labor market and creation of development policy for improving such cooperation, has started in 2009.
