TEMPUS Kick off Meeting: COMPETENCE - Matching competences in higher education and economy: From competence catalogue to strategy and curriculum development
Graz. From March 23-24, 2009, the kick off meeting for the new Tempus project COMPETENCE took place at the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum in Graz. 22 Participants from eight international project partners were present at the meeting. The project aims at developing tools for improving the match between competences developed by higher education institutions and those required by the labour market.
For that purpose all project partners presented their experiences in matching competences of higher education and economy. Furthermore, the partners from FH Joanneum (AT) held a workshop where a definition of the term ‘competence’ for the use of this term within the project was proposed and further developed. Moreover, a methodology and the structure and content of a draft manual for assessing and matching competences were developed during this workshop.
WUS Austria is in charge of the overall coordination of this project and therefore presented guidelines for project and financial management to initiate a smooth project implementation. Finally, during a project planning workshop led by WUS Austria, the activities timetable for the coming twelve months was revised and later on agreed uponduring the consortium meeting.
