Support to B-H HE in 2005-2007

Owing to the continual, by now traditional, assistance generously given by the Republic of Austria, WUS Austria is once again launching its program "Support to Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2005-2007" in the total amount of 762.559,88 EUR. On December 6th 2005, at the Austrian Embassy in Sarajevo, official contracting took place between the Republic of Austria, B-H Universities and WUS Austria.

The following is a list of contract signatories:

  • Austrian Ambassador to B&H, Prof. Dr. Werner Almhofer
  • Rector of University of Bihac, Prof. Dr. Refik Sahinovic
  • Rector of University "Džemal Bijedic" in Mostar, Prof. Dr. Fuad Catovic
  • Vice-rector of University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Darko Petkovic
  • Vice-rector of University of Mostar, Prof. Dr. Vojo Visekruna
  • General Secretary of University of Sarajevo, Zoran Seleskovic
  • Representative of University of Banja Luka and University of East Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Zoran Ljuboje
  • Regional Manager of WUS Austria in B&H, Dino Mujkic

The formal signing of the Contract arose the interest of the wider public. At the ceremony itself, there were representatives from a number of TV stations, and journalists from different newspapers.

Within its program of support, WUS Austria will implement four projects, which will directly improve the quality of teaching and research at the B-H Universities:

  • Course Development Program +
  • Brain Gain Program
  • eLearning Program - eContent Program
  • Balkan Case Challenge

With the aim of promoting these projects in B-H academic community, WUS Austria conducted a series of Round Tables at all the Universities in BiH. The main purpose of the Round Tables was to promote current WUS Austria projects, introduce potential candidates to specific application and selection procedures and clarify possible obscurities.

The Round Tables were held at the following Universities, on the following dates:

  • November 09, 2005  - University "Džemal Bijedic" in Mostar
  • November 09, 2005  - University of Mostar
  • November 10, 2005 - University of Bihac
  • November 21, 2005 - University of Sarajevo
  • November 21, 2005 - University of Zenica
  • November 22, 2005 - University of East Sarajevo
  • November 24, 2005 - University of Tuzla
  • November 28, 2005 - University of Banja Luka

The Round Tables had an open character, i.e. all members of the academic community were welcome.
