"Curriculum Development and ECTS Introduction" (Training within CDP+) Sarajevo , 21st - 23rd September, 2005

From the 21st to 23rd of September 2005, WUS Austria hosted a Training "Curriculum Development and ECTS Introduction" at Hotel Saraj, in Sarajevo. The Training gathered more than 130 members from the BH academic population, 6 EU experts, 2 local experts, and numerous guests. The opening speeches were delivered by Dr. Werner Almhofer, the Austrian Ambassador to B&H, Mr. Lazare Paupert, Cultural Counselor at the French Embassy in B&H, and Mr. Dino Mujkic, WUS Austria Regional Manager in B&H.

Organization of the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) Training was one of the activities foreseen within the frame of CDP+ (Course Development Program +). The ECTS training represented WUS Austria's initiative to facilitate the introduction of ECTS procedures in BH Higher Education, as one of the imperative stepping-stones towards European Higher Education Area. The main objective of the Trainings was to enable the transfer of know-how from EU experts, experienced in curricula adaptation and the introduction and utilization of ECTS, to a carefully selected group of academic workers. By inviting local experts, the aim was to also present to the target group specific problems and needs of ECTS introduction in BH Higher Education. The target group, consisting of CDP+ applicants and University representatives, was carefully devised so as to consist of the main stakeholders who will later be able to pass their acquired know-how to other end-users.
The ECTS Training was focused on practical examples of already existing cases and has enabled brainstorming for all the participants working on the Higher Education Reform. Brainstorming was followed by appropriate consulting services by experts who had been responsible for ECTS establishment at different EU Universities. A series of plenary sessions were an opportunity for all to get the basic information on Bologna Process, curricula development and ECTS establishment as indispensable parts of Bologna Process.

• Humanities and Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Social Sciences
• Technical Sciences
• Medical Sciences
• Natural and Biotechnical Sciences

According to the participants' feedback, the Training was a great success. As a result, the Organizers' expectations have been more than fulfilled.
